Standard Operating Procedure Example - H1N1 & ECMO
Hi Everyone,
As part of my Master's Program, at The University of Nebraska Medical Center, one course requires that we research and design, as a group, a standard operating procedure for given topics. One was the conduct of ECMO for patients with H1N1, and as such I thought it may be of some use, or interest to post here. It is rather long, admittedly apparently I write too much for assignments! But it covers a lot of science, and some social, and institutional aspects of a pandemic situation which may help and be of some use in future emergency/pandemic scenarios.
If anyone else can share their standard operating procedures that they developed for the specific management of H1N1 requiring ECMO, and the implications on our perfusion departments, hospitals, and our patients, I would be interested in seeing them.
Thanks, M.
