The recent international consortium meeting in Montreal was a great success. There were several excellent presentations by perfusionists, surgeons, anesthetists, IT specialists and others from Canada. The CSCP is a supporting member of this group that has as its objective developing evidence based guidelines, promoting the integration of these guidelines into practice, identifying gaps in the literature, encouraging research and evaluating improvementss related to adoption of these guidelines. The web site is www.icebp.org

Hi David.
Are there any areas in particular that are prioritized? What are the hot topics that members are focusing on? That doesn't seem to be detailed on the ICEBP website.
As well, there is mention of a dotproject (collaborative work) website for the individual ICEBP committees. Would that be made public so that even persons who are not on the committees be able to know what progress is being made?
I don't know about the dot project policies.I do not think they will be made public at this time. At present I participate in International conference calls which seem to get a lot done in a short time. Mostly the dot idea is to help with development of guidelines and document review.
On the database and directory group at present one big area of activity is to develop a list of complications related to CPB to be included in the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
I am also listed in the Pediatric and education groups.
Dwayne Jones was the CSCP representative in Montreal. Others that are involved ar Debbie Hubble (Ottawa) and Christos Calaritis (Montreal)
There is room to be involved if you are interested. This is an organization in its infancy.
It is interntaionla in its focus. The meeting will be in the US next year, probably east coast.
