Work Life Mapping (tm)
So I got this memo last week. It said "All staff, physicians, learners, volunteers and others who contribute to the daily operation of Kingston General Hospital are being asked to participate in an important tracking project next week to determine how our work is organized and how this impacts the quality of work life and patient care. " It said that all staff were going to spend between 2 to 3 hours filling out these forms.
Now, I'm just as keen as the next guy to improve my workplace, but this is fricken ridiculous. Why not have a short survey that blankets the whole hospital and then target more specific spots for such an in-depth study? The paperwork this is generating (and therefore we are paying for) is colossal!
I heard that just two paychecks ago, the hospital had run out of cash and had to take out a line of credit to pay its employees. I also found out the same week that the KGH's CEO's salary is the highest salary in the province for a hospital administrator. I guess were lucky to have him!
