Evolution and Impact:

The History of the Ontario Society of Clinical Perfusion

The Ontario Society of Clinical Perfusion (OSCP) traces its roots back to May 1983 when Carla Hamilton, Coordinator of the Cardiovascular Perfusion Technology Program at the Toronto Institute of Medical Technology, organized the first educational event for perfusionists under the name ON Perfusionists Association (OPA). Initially held on the eighth floor of what is now known as the Michener Institute of Education at UHN, this event evolved into an annual tradition until 1990 when the OPA rebranded itself as the OSCP to better align with the newly formed Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion.
